To foster the next generation of critical thinkers, problem solvers, innovators, leaders, and environmental stewards through hands-on creativity-enhancing exploration of STEAM concepts using renewable materials.
Our Vision:
To cultivate creativity by providing students with the experiences they need to look at the world in new ways. We engage kids with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) programs. Our approach to teaching uses the Design Thinking process and “STEAM” — the "A" (art) adds the ability for students to look at a situation from new and creative angles and inspires innovation.
We bring STEM to children throughout Orange County by adding an “A” for art! We create, package, and teach STEAM-based kits and workshops. Inside each kit are reclaimed and upcycled materials that we collect from generous businesses and individuals. We bring these workshops to you, your community, or to your schools, virtually or in-person with our Makerspace-On-Wheels Program.
Our Depot for Creative Reuse, located in Santa Ana, is where we house all of our upcycled materials, and where we currently have an estimated 9 tons of inventory, Some of which we salvaged from company waste. We have a wide selection of materials to support educators and parents with their own makerspaces, curriculum, and for educational projects.
Child Creativity Lab also has a plethora of volunteering opportunities, both in-person and virtually – there’s always something to be done. Some of our opportunities are team building as well, which our many corporate and foundation partners love to participate in. However, even the individual can help out - we are always in need of volunteers in the depot and material donations.
