Katrina Carras graduated with a BFA in Animation in May 2013 from Laguna College of Art & Design (LCAD) in Laguna Beach, California. For the past year, she has taught at OC Art Studios, which offer after-school art programs to K-6 students.
She interned at local IMAX production studio MacGillivray Freeman Films for two summers where she co-directed the award-winning animated short, "The Ocean that We Want to Know", promoting awareness for Worldâs Oceans Day. In a master class studying under Pocahontas director Eric Goldberg, she worked on the short film, Attack of the 50 Foot Hero, a team project that took a film from concept to completed color in only twelve weeks. The film premiered at Walt Disney Animation Studios and was showcased in festivals.
Currently, she is coloring her short, hand-drawn film Bedtime Story, a quick-paced, character-driven comedy. She loves all aspects of animation, particularly storyboarding.
When she isnât creating art, she is working as a monster in a haunted house or riding her bike while blaring the E.T. theme.
We are thrilled to welcome Katrina to the team. With her passion and background in animation, she will be leading our storyboard design educational workshop, which combines the love of drawing and storytelling to help express a
studentâs sense of wonder at the world. In this workshop, children will create an
original storyboard through a process that involves the development of their own
personalized short story and the use of a storyboard canvas to bring the final story
line to life with both dialogue and action.
